Join PXL at Camp Hamilton for Our 4-Day Doin's Our Fall Clampout Registration is now Open!
Greetings my Brothers, as Humbug, please accept my personal invitation to Peter Lebeck's 6031 Fall Doin's. It's promising to be one of our best. From Thursday, October 1st through Sunday the 4th, we will be heading back to Camp Hamilton.
Camp Hamilton is a veterans' memorial park founded in 1979, which honors members of the US military who have gone on to the Golden Hills. But it's not a cemetery, instead there are over 330 trees each dedicated to a service member who died in action, went missing, died by suicide or otherwise died of natural causes. It began as a promise by Glenn Denton, USMC, to honor his fellow "Kool-Aid Kids," whose squad during the Vietnam War was tasked with recovering the bodies of fellow Marines, but as a result of their efforts most of the squad did not return alive.
Glenn Denton was taken in at PXL during his early career and retired as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. During this trip to Camp Hamilton, we will be erecting a plaque in honor of "Master Guns" and the Kool-Aid kids. Glenn made a promise to never forget them, and it was one he kept. Glenn lost his life driving through Wyoming in 2024, but the promise lives on today.
I also expect that two trees will be planted in memory of two of our members. I may also have a surprise, but I cannot disclose it at this time (That's why it's called a surprise, get it?) There's also legal stuff to consider, but I'm working on it.
So if you have a brother, son, cousin, nephew, or anyone you think has the temperament and whose interests would make him a good Clamper, now would be a good time to bring up the subject, as this would be a most memorable Clampout to be taken in. Now is the time to get your PBC signed up, as well as yourself. This is a "pre-pay only" event, so Redshirts, sign up no later than September 25th, or September 14th if you want an event shirt.
