Join PXL in Mojave for Four Days of
"The Humbug's Revenge!"
It's been a few years since we've been east to the high desert, and the Humbug says it'll be good for us. It may be warm, but it's the kind of no frills Clamping that our Humbug, "Dr. Klapper," prescribes for growing hair on your chest.
He also swears it might do the same for the top of your head, but while we are waiting for him to get back to us on that, you'll want to join us in Mojave at the Elks' Skeet and Trap Range for our four-day Doin's he's calling "The Humbug's Revenge." It starts on Thursday noon, September 26th and runs through Sunday morning.
Now as to how much "Revenge" Dr. Klapper can possibly inflict, well that is highly suspect. The chapter dumped him into the humbug bucket so the brethren are already way ahead of him on the "venge" side of things, so it's doubtful he'll ever be able to catch up.
Still, we do gotta give the guy a chance, and the Elks' Mojave Skeet Range is a good place to do it. We are guests of Elks Mojave Lodge #2059, which owns the site and is making it exclusively available to Peter Lebeck for our entire Clampout.
You'll have no problems getting to this Clamp, whether from Bakersfield, L.A. or the mountains around the Kern River Valley. The site is on the south side of the town of Mojave, just off Highway 58 Business, and a mere two miles from Mojave's business strip on Highway 14, where you'll find food, gas and a supermarket. There are even motels nearby if you'd prefer a more convenient visit.
You'll also want to leave your shotgun at home. The usual Clamping rules still apply, and the "Peter Lebeck Clay Pigeon Defense Fund," reminds us that firearms don't mix well with certain libations. If you'd still like to shoot skeet or trap, check with the Mojave Elks, they welcome the public on certain days.
The skeet range has plenty of flat ground for RVs and tents, and you'll want to bring water, shade and adult libations if you are so inclined. PXL does not provide alcohol. The bar has cold water, snacks and mixers. But PXL does intend to feed your though Sunday morning, beginning with our Humbug's Meet 'n' Greet on Friday afternoon. Until then, you'll have to make other arrangements, but we do encourage friendly mooching.
So Brothers, won't you please join us? You won't regret this. The desert is a peaceful place to get away for a few days. We'd be honored to have you join us, and you'll be glad you did. ABOUT CLAMPING WITH PETER LEBECK
Kern County is a big place and it covers all kinds of terrain: from the driest portions of the Mojave Desert, to the snowiest pine forests of the Sierra Nevada; from the oak woodlands of Walker Basin to the still wild grasslands of the San Joaquin Valley. Then of course there is Fort Tejon, Pine Mountain, the Kern River Valley, the Tehachapis, and…you get the drift. Kern County IS a BIG and interesting place.
And needless to say, we do try to get around. So if you are looking for something different, always make sure to look us up when you are planning your Clamping Calendar. If you've Clamped the desert, try the mountains. If you've Clamped the mountains, try the desert. But always make an effort check with us because we may be going someplace you'd really, really enjoy, and we do get around.
PXL Clampouts are not so large that you'll ever feel lost, and not so small that you'll ever feel like you're crashing someone's private party. Brothers visiting from other chapters are always made to feel welcome, and we especially encourage you to drop by if you live in Kern County or the adjoining areas of southern and central California.
At Peter Lebeck we plan two, full-weekend Clampouts every year, one in the spring and the other in the fall, and we favor overnight outings because we believe it is the surest way to make sure that each of our Brothers makes it home safely. At Peter Lebeck we also believe that Clamping is as much about plaquing as it is about camping and camaraderie, so we try to mount at least one erection every year and we try to Clamp near by. So won't you join us for the adventure? We'll make sure you get an extra helping of Timbo's beans.
