So you're feeling bad because you missed one or more of the last 55 Peter Lebeck Widders' Balls? Or maybe you've been meaning to show your Widder a good time but fishing, hunting, golf, football and NASCAR just got in the way? Or maybe sleeping outside with Fido is looming in your future? Well, no matter your situation, we're offering you a chance to improve your batting average with both us and your Widder, because PXL's 56th Annual Widders' Ball is almost here. Come Saturday, January 30, 2016, the Brothers of the Piss Poor Bear Wrassler himself, Peter Lebeck, invite you to join us at the Homewood Suites in Bakersfield for "A Redneck Prom."
What's a Redneck Prom you say? Well that's the theme for this year's PXL all day soirée, and if you don't know what that is and can't claim to be a Redneck youself, well that's OK. Just think of it as a cultural event -- like the first time you ate Pizza or Chinese Food. Heck, you, your Widder and your friends of all stripes are welcome to join us as we're the friendliest bunch of redshirts you're ever gonna wanna meet anywhere, and we're proud of it!
Hosted this year by incoming Humbug Luis "Vaquero" Bouza and his lovely Widder Janina, the party starts at 3:00 p.m. with our hospitality lounge where the cocktails, beer and finger food are all part of the rub. It's a great way to make new friends, catch up on old times, and introduce prospective Redshirts to ECV. Gather indoors and enjoy the music along with the photos from the prior year's activities, or just hang out by the patio and pool as weather permits. As usual it's "come as you are," with plenty of time to dress up for dinner.
Following Hospitality time, we'll once again be rolling out the Redneck Red Carpet at 7:00 p.m. for our version of Prom Night, -- only ours comes with an open bar. Redneck and period attire are encouraged but no matter how you dress you'll want to look your spiffiest, because we'll be looking to crown a Prom Queen and King to reign over our evening festivities.
And whatever you do, don't leave your smart phone behind because our Facebook Widders' Ball Prom Page will be live! During the ball you'll be able to upload you pics to our social media site for everyone to see. We'll even have monitors set-up so you can watch the pictures as they come in. For those with limited data, Homewood even has free complimentary WiFi for hotel guests. So get ready to go clickety-clickety-click.
Dinner will be your choice of a Chicken or Veggie Platter, along with assorted sides and various desserts prepared by our Brother Jim Bailey's Homewood staff. And if that isn't enough, just help yourself to seconds because you'll need the extra energy to keep up with your Widder as she dances the night away.
At PXL our Widders' Ball is first and foremost about the ladies, so we promise that the passing of the Staff of Relief, awards and similar stuff will be brief but memorable, but we highly recommend our most excellent Widders' Raffle. We've limited it to a handful of special, preselected prizes of significant value. Check them out before dinner then divide your chances among the various entries as suits your whimsy.
We'll also have two separate grand raffle prizes at $10 a chance, one for the men and one for the ladies. To the lucky man, we'll be giving away a full year's worth of Clamping with PXL. If you win, you'll get a complimentary pass to our upcoming Spring and Fall Doin's, as well as free admission to next year's Widders' Ball for your Widder and the guy she deems worthy of her affection. To the lucky lady, we'll be giving away several hundred dollars in cash. So don't pass up a chance to win something nice for your sweetie, the luckiest numbers may be yours!
Then after dinner, take to the dance floor and be inspired by the spinnings of our DJ, Brother Carlos Lemus. Grab a drink and watch the action from the bistro style seating. Step out onto the nearby patio for a breather, or step into the nearby lobby to enjoy the fire and have a quiet, memorable conversation with friends. It can all be yours when you join us for PXL's 2016 edition of our Widders' Ball - "Peter's Redneck Prom Night!"
But whatever you do, make sure to get your reservations in early. Space is limited to the first 100 ball goers, and we can't guarantee that you'll get in if you show up without an RSVP. Couples will be welcome at $75. Additional guests are $40 each; and Redshirts who come stag pay $45. It's a great deal in a prime location, especially if you are spending the night.
Unless you are a teetotaler or want to be poured into a cab, staying over is the preferred way to enjoy this party, and you can do so for about half of what you'd be charged for comparable accommodations elsewhere. Compliments of NGH Jim Bailey, the Homewood is once again offering us a limited number of mini-suites at the "friends and family" rate. Each room comes with a full kitchen, free Wi-Fi and an extra plush and comfy king sized bed maintained to Hilton's exacting standards. It's perfect for a good night's sleep (or whatever you like to do in bed). Most rooms even have a pull out sofa bed just in case you need to double up with your friends (sorry, not going there). The standard room goes for $79 a night plus tax, or upgrade for $10 more. Just call Homewood at 661-664-0400, and ask for Stacy or Nicole. Mention that you're with Peter Lebeck to secure these special rates.
So don't put this one off and risk missing out! The 2016 Peter Lebeck Widders' Ball is going to be a great party, but we can't guarantee you a place at the Prom if you show up at the door without a reservation. If you have questions about space or anything else just email us at Registration@ecv1866.org up to the day of the Ball.
Use our special webpage to reserve right away, then pay with Paypal or by check. Or download the flyer and sign-up by mail. Just make your check out to "Peter Lebeck #1866," and send it and your RSVP to "Peter Lebeck c/o Dale Turner, 24415 Lisa Kelton Place, Newhall, CA 91321." Be sure to postmark by Friday, January 22, 2016, to ensure your reservation.
